Auditions take place at the Blacksburg Presbyterian Church, 5:30–7:30 pm.
Membership at a Glance
Our rehearsal schedule and performance season are based largely on the Virginia Tech academic year. Rehearsals are held every Tuesday evening beginning in mid-August, from 7:30-9:30 p.m., at Blacksburg Presbyterian Church. Auditions are in mid-August and mid-January. Every concert season we perform a fall concert, holiday concert, Christmas Sing-Along, and a spring concert.
member dues and other costs
Choir dues are $95 per semester (fall, spring). Need-based scholarships are available by application; email blacksburgmasterchorale@gmail.com for more information.
Music fees are usually between $25–$45 per concert and is yours to keep.
Each choir member is responsible for supplying their own appropriate concert attire.
Audition Process
The Blacksburg Master Chorale is always looking to expand its membership. We encourage everyone that loves to sing to audition. The audition process is short and simple, typically about 10-15 minutes.
The audition includes:
Prepare and sing one of the songs listed in the signup form
Sing simple scales throughout your range
A short sight reading example
Short tonal memory exercises
complete the Information form and sign up for a Time Below
