Mozart's Requiem

  • Moss Arts Center 190 Alumni Mall Blacksburg, VA, 24061 United States (map)

The Blacksburg Master Chorale joins the Virginia Tech Choirs and Virginia Tech Philharmonic Orchestra to present one of the most well-known and glorious works for choir and orchestra, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Requiem.

This will be the first performance of this piece in the Moss Arts Center.

Commissioned by a mysterious stranger and left incomplete at the time of the composer's death, W.A. Mozart's Requiem Mass (K. 626) is a longtime favorite of musicians and audiences the world over.

And Gjielo's Dark Night of the Soul, inspired by the grace and passion of a medieval poem by St. John of the Cross, is an extended work that offers intense dramatic exchanges between choir, piano, and string quartet.

Join us for this unique performance that combines three groups in the grand Anne and Ellen Fife Theatre of Virginia Tech's Moss Arts Center. VT faculty member Mathias Elmer will conduct the performance, leading the Virginia Tech Philharmonic; the VT choirs and Blacksburg Master Chorale will be prepared by VT faculty members Dwight Bigler and Dominique Gonzales.

Tickets are $25 for general admission, $10 for VT students, high school students, and youths.
