Prepare and sing a short song (see selections on sign-up form)
Sing simple scales throughout your range
A short sight-reading example
Short tonal memory exercises

Our rehearsal schedule and performance season are based around the Virginia Tech academic year. Rehearsals are held every Tuesday evening beginning in mid-August, from 7:30-9:30 p.m., at Blacksburg Presbyterian Church. Auditions are in mid-August and mid-January. Every concert season we perform a fall concert, holiday concert, Christmas sing-along, and a spring concert.
member dues and other costs
Choir dues are $95 per semester (fall, spring). Need-based scholarships are available to auditioned and accepted members by application; email blacksburgmasterchorale@gmail.com for more information.
Music fees are usually between $25–$45 per concert and the music is yours to keep.
Each choir member is responsible for supplying their own appropriate concert attire.
working together in harmony
Members must learn their music and sing fully to create a cohesive section and group sound.
Members are encouraged to sell tickets to share our performances with friends, family, community members, and co-workers.
Our BMC Board of Directors is an amazing volunteer team made of choir members who make this chorus happen. Without them, BMC wouldn’t exist! Positions on the Board regularly become available for other choir members as current board members complete their term limits. We hope every choir member will eventually take a turn at serving on the board!
